Week 20 Update

5th Grade Weekly Update
Dear Parents,
Literacy Week has come to an end and we have had quite an interesting time. The students spent the week learning about prejudice and stereotypes after we watched the movie, Zootopia. Please take some time to read the article that I posted about the lessons contained within the movie on both the blog and our Class Dojo page.
What we learned This week
Math: Topic 9 – Maths: Topic 10 – Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Decimals/TOPIC TEST
Literacy: Literacy Week – Zootopia (A Disney movie about prejudice, bias, and stereotypes).
Science: Chapter 3 – Growth and Survival
Social Studies: Ch. 7 World War One – Chapter wrap up and test.

I braved opening day of Zootopia with four kids. I had seen the previews and thought it would be a sweet, funny Disney movie about "becoming who we want to be no matter what" or "following our dreams." It did meet those expectations, but there was actually more.
